The contest is divided in 4 categories. One student per category is allowed to represent the school. The 4 categories are :
- Group A – Standard VIII to X
- Group B – Standard V to VII
- Group C – Standard I to IV
- Group D – Kindergarten & Nursery
Every year, students from 400 – 500 schools from Mumbai and the surrounding sub-urban areas participate in this prestigious event.
All the contest material like Drawing Boards, Drawing Pencils, Sharpeners, Erasers, Poster Colours, Water Colours, Colour Pencils, Wax Crayons, etc. are provided to the participants by Hindustan Pencils Pvt. Ltd.
A panel of judges comprising eminent artists evaluate the entries on the spot. The winners are awarded with prizes and certificates. Other students get Certificate of Participation. “The Best Entry of the Contest” gets “Apsara Colorama Excellence Awards Rotating Trophy”.
40th Apsara Colorama Excellence Awards 2008 – Mumbai
40th Apsara Colorama Inter School Art Contest 2008 was organised at Sir J. J. School of Arts, Mumbai on January 27, 2008. This year, 1,800 children from schools across Mumbai and surrounding areas participated in the event.
The entries were judged by a panel of judges comprising of eminent artists like Mrs. Prafulla Dahanukar, Mr. Suhas Bahulkar, Mr. Dattatreya Padekar and Mr. Manohar Mhatre. Three prizes – First, Second and Third and ten consolation prizes were awarded per group. The best entry among all was selected and Master Nikhil Vasant Chavan, a tenth class student of Saraswati Secondary School, Thane was awarded with “The Apsara Colorama Excellence Awards Rotating Trophy”.
Taking the league ahead and to make “Apsara Colorama Excellence Awards” reach other parts of the country, Hindustan Pencils Pvt. Ltd. has initiated this interschool competition for the first time in New Delhi.
Colorama Excellence Awards 2007 – New Delhi
Apsara Colorama Inter School Art Contest 2007 was organised at National Bal Bhavan, New Delhi on November 23, 2007. This year, 600 children from schools across the NCR (National Capital Region) area participated in the event.
The entries were judged by a panel of judges comprising of eminent artists like Mr. A.S. Bhullar, Mr. R. K. Yadav, Mr. S. C. Ahuja and Mr. Harish Srivastav. Three prizes – First, Second and Third and ten consolation prizes were awarded per group. The best entry among all was selected and Ms. Hiteshita Ratra, a KG class student of Apeejay School, Faridabad was awarded with “The Apsara Colorama Excellence Awards Rotating Trophy”.
